The late Janet Kanini passed away in 2017 but her spirit continues to live on.

On Tuesday, George Ikua penned a birthday message to Kanini, thanking her for the beautiful memories she created.

Kanini, who was a news anchor, left behind two children and Ikua told her what the kids had to say.

“Happy Birthday Janee! From us all .... ‘tis with fond memories and smiles that we relive your memories....

“That you swung by this blue rock and chose our lives to walk in... keep dancing with the angels....

“Kids only asked whether this now means there will be cake. You are truly warmly and fondly remembered,” he wrote.

Janet succumbed to cancer in 2017 and her story had touched the hearts of many, including Anjlee Gadhvi.

The two were close friends and would often confide in each other regarding their cancer struggles.

When Janet died, Gadhvi penned an emotional poem recalling the moments they shared.

“Dear Janet, it has been a while since we spoke. You have been quiet, a bit too quiet. I wish I knew what was running through your mind. Today I heard you left and I do not know how to reach you…”

Four months ago, Gadhvi left her twitter followers in a sombre mood after sharing an emotional video trying to explain to her 5-year-old daughter why she has to leave the country for two weeks for specialized treatment in India.

In the video, amid tears, her little girl begged her mum to seek treatment at Agha Khan but Gadhvi reassuringly explained why seeking treatment in India was better.

Last week, Gadhvi also succumbed to cancer leaving behind her husband and two kids.
