Gatundu South Member of Parliament(MP) Moses Kuria on Friday, January 10, 2020, was arrested in Nairobi for assault.

Reports indicate that the legislator was pounced on by police at the Royal Media Services headquarters after a woman claimed he assaulted her.

In a viral video, the woman, identified as Joyce Wanja, narrated that on December 8, 2019, Kuria attacked her during an interview on Inooro TV after she asked him to be careful with his words.

"I told him he was talking about matters which were irrelevant to the event at hand and more so, inappropriate for children and faithfuls," she said.

”Nilichapwa na Moses Kuria tarehe nane mwezi wa December tukiwa kwa jumba la Royal Media Services. Nilikuwa nimeitwa show ya Kiririmbi kudiscuss mambo ya BBI,” said Joyce Wanja.

The MP was taken to Kilimani police station pending arraignment.

The woman called upon the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to take action.

She, however, expressed fears that the legislator had not been arrested at the time due to his political status hence justice would not be served.

"I thought all of us are Kenyans. I'm wondering whether he has not been arrested because he is above the law, or is it because I don't have money to hire a lawyer," she said.
