The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) on Saturday, December 21, 2019, announced that a section of Mbagathi way will be closed for the demolition of a footbridge.

According to KURA, the road will be closed between Friday, December 27, 2019, to Monday, December 30, 2019, from 6am to 6 pm.

The roads authority advised all motorists to use alternative routes that they suggested.

“We wish to notify the general public that a section of Mbagathi Way will be closed for motorists from Friday 27th December 2019 till Monday 30th December, 2019 both days inclusive from 6am till 6pm”

“This is to allow the contractor on site to demolish the Mbagathi Way Footbridge and pave way for construction of a modern footbridge” read part of the announcement.

They advised motorists coming from Langata Road through Mbagathi Way to divert at Mbagathi Road, join Mtongwe Road and proceed up to Mbaruk road before joining Muchai Drive which joins Ngong Road.

Motorists from Ngong town via Ngong Road to proceed up to city mortuary roundabout, exit at the roundabout to join Ngong road again drive on upto Muchai drive diversion.

Proceed through to join Mbaruk Road, then Mtongwe Road upto Mbagathi Road which links with Mbagathi Way.

KURA, however, apologised for any inconvenience caused and attributed their actions to the need of having an efficient urban road network.
