Kirinyaga County Governor Anne Waiguru on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, hit the headlines online after she threatened to sue rapper King Kaka.

This came after the rapper mentioned the Governor in his new song titled ‘Wajinga Nyinyi’ and linked her to graft.

The Governor is not a stranger to dragging to court those who, according to her, violate her rights and intrude on her privacy.

Governor Waiguru first came to the limelight as Cabinet Secretary after billions of shillings went missing from the Ministry of Devolution in what was dubbed 'NYS scandal'.

Some of the legal battles the Governor has been involved in include;

On August 27, 2015, the governor sued California based Google company in attempts to have them reveal the identity of the daily post blog’s owner who she claimed defamed her.

Later that year on September 25, 2015, Waiguru sued former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for linking her to the NYS scandal.

Early the following year, in January, the Governor sued the then Machakos County Senator Johnson Muthama for suggesting that she was having a clandestine affair with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

In 2017, she sued the DCI, Attorney General and EACC after they suggested that her lifestyle be audited over her involvement in the NYS scandal.

In 2018, Waiguru threatened to sue IPSOS after they named her among the most corrupt people in the country.

The Governor’s legal team gave King Kaka 48 hours to, among other things offer an equivocal, unqualified and unreserved retraction and an apology to the Governor.

They further asked the rapper to permanently pull down the video from YouTube and all his social media platforms.

Failure to which a legal battle will be launched.

King Kaka is yet to respond to the governor or her demands.
