Deputy President's Communication strategist Dennis Itumbi said that security guards who harassed him during the BBI launch thought he was someone else.

Speaking to a local media outlet, Itumbi claimed that he was confused for his lookalike brother.

A statement which insinuates that, had they known it was him, the unfortunate incident at the Bomas of Kenya could not have been witnessed.

"I had a beautiful moment as I left Bomas a few moments ago... with the deputy escort commander who kept telling me, 'we know you are not Dennis Itumbi but his brother.”

Itumbi further stated that it was a colleague who calmed things between him and the officer.

"Lucky for me, a colleague saved me. A few minutes later, he was clearing the road for me," posted Itumbi after the ordeal on Wednesday.

Itumbi had earlier dismissed the scene as harassment and said that the situation was misread by the media.

This came after a clip that showed Itumbi being roughly escorted out of the podium by security officials during the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report release went viral.

The incident took place on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, during the official launch of the BBI report by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Leaders from different parts around the country joined citizens at the Bomas of Kenya to witness the launch.
