Maize flour consumers around the country on Thursday, November 21, 2019, were quick to express their disgust towards the lift of two major maize flour brands by KEBS.

Through social media, many asked the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) to inform them of how they would be able to differentiate between the previously flagged and newly processed flour.

This came after KEBS, through a statement, said that the two maize flour companies had implemented the required corrective actions.

The two Maize flour brands are ‘Dola’ by Kitui Flour Mills Limited and ‘Kifaru’ by Alpha Grains Millers Limited.

Others wanted a clear explanation of how the two maize flour brands ended up in their ‘harmful substance’ list in the first place.

Susan Angokho - And all of a sudden aflatoxin disappear from the flour on the shelves. What's the work of Kebs?

Erickoh Mc Osidha Junior - The question is, what have they done to guarantee safety of the unga!! Kebs is a scam full of jokers n brokers. Sad.

Mathias Oduor Jobita - As expected. They did nothing like destroying the affected flour. What they did was to find 2m and talk nicely with the authorities. 2 years down the line, you'll hear that cancer patients have trebled. Kenya has never needed a revolution like now.

George Were - So how much have they paid KEBS? share the lab test results or let Dola sue you for damages. in fact, whoever is being compromised in kebs, cancer is at your doorstep, we will get the info soon that you are hit..mnafikiria mungu ni ATHUMANI!??

Jerry Jerry - When did aflatoxin disappear when the stocks were only taken out of shelves and hidden behind in stores, cry Kenya cry.

The Standards Bureau in early November banned several different types of maize flour which they claimed had high levels of aflatoxins.

In the wake of the discovery, KEBS urged Kenyans to be vigilant and report when they encounter substandard products.
