Harambee Stars captain and Tottenham Hotspurs midfielder Victor Wanyama on Wednesday wished his brother McDonald Mariga the best of luck in his bid to become the next Kibra MP but his message did not go down well with some netizens.

Through Facebook, Wanyama wrote ‘All the best’, and uploaded a photo of Mariga but the post drew mixed reactions.

While some joined Wanyama in conveying their best wishes, others took the opportunity to poke fun at him for his club struggles in England.

Ugenya Siaya Alego: Wewe pia game yako ikishaisha urudi usimame mbunge Ikolomani...

Charles Otung: There is nothing both of you have done to this country including the slums where you stayed..... So he is going to fail terribly

Ochelle Baba Sankara: We appreciate your contribution to Harambee Stars but it's high time we got a new captain.

Evance Mwendwa: The way you have failed at Tottenham your brother will fail terribly tomorrow. Stick to football

Karanja Kanch Paul: Why all the bile and hatred to mariga and the brother..if you are not happy about them why should you follow their pages....

Muli Okong'o: Did you ever try advising your brother captain? He messed up, he nolonger have the dignity we accorded him.

Brian Echakara: U people should learn from Sadio Mane who is doing mavellors things to his country (Senegal). Instead of even starting football academies you go on buying big cars. Baadaye unkuja kuomba kura. Anyway we wish him all the best.

James Kioko: Don't get mixed up in this mud. Stick to football bruh... Waiting for tonight's game.

Anjuh Orare: He is going to fail tremendously the way you have failed to secure a starting place in the Spurs squad! watch this space.

Isaac K. Kanda: Please give back to society as well...umeona vile hon Mariga ameshambuliwa..build hospital or nature football here...or Victor wanyama stadium!

Fredy Nyakeri: Unaona vile ni ngori kuuma 1st Eleven Totte, wembe ni ule ule Brathe kwa Mariga

Kibra residents are today voting in a showdown pitting the Handshake/Kieleweke team against Deputy President William Ruto's team Tangatanga.

The Handshake team comprises politicians brought together following a unity pact between Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2018.

ODM - a subscriber of the handshake - has fielded Bernard Imran Okoth while Ruto’s Jubilee has ex-football sensation Mariga.

The two are touted as the front runners based on the spirited campaigns that they have staged in the chase for the votes.
