DCI impounds six high-end vehicles that were stolen abroad and smuggled into Kenya

DCI detectives on Wednesday impounded six motor vehicles that were stolen from their countries of origin and smuggled into the country.

According the DCI, there were three Mercedes Benz and three Range Rovers.

Investigations carried out by Interpol revealed that one of the cars impounded had been stolen from a South African.

“The vehicles; 3 Mercedes-Benzes & 3 Range Rovers were confirmed to have been stolen from their countries of origin/smuggled into the country for Tax Evasion.

“Further investigations by INTERPOL established that one of the Mercedes Benzes was robbed from Mrs Tshegofasto Mabyane in South Africa & one of the Range Rovers was reported stolen in the UK.

“The 2 vehicles to be handed over to #INTERPOL for further processing|@SAPoliceService,” said the DCI.

Also, three of the vehicles were found to have evaded tax as they were processed as semi-trailers and one Range Rover had a Toyota Probox registration number.

The DCI maintained that no one will steal from one country and enjoy the sweat of others while in another country.
