Popular radio presenter Andrew Kibe was on Wednesday, September 25, 2019, arraigned in court for failing to pay for a 7-year-old debt.

Kibe is said to have borrowed Sh215,000 from a colleague approximately 7 years ago and was to pay back with an interest of Sh55,000.

The lender, Joshua Ichang’i Weru alleged that Kibe was supposed to pay back within a period of 18 days, failure to which the money would increase by 7.5% of the said interest after every four days.

He asked the court to demand that Kibe repays the full amount plus the interest incurred.

The loan accumulated over the years and as of June 2018 stood at Sh2.5million.

“Failure to complete the above contractual obligation by 28/02/2012 incurs an additional penalty of 7.5 percent in the above mentioned interest for every four days exceeded from the disclaimer date, ” read the court papers.

The plaintiff further demanded that the accused pays for the full cost of the lawsuit and other relief that the court might deem fit.

According to a letter from Musyoki Mogaka and co. Advocates, the notice of entry of judgment was made in June 2018.

This means that it was Sh2.5million at the time and could have increased since.
