Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Wednesday warned all motorists who park around Nation Center against failing to pay their parking fees.

Through a post on social media, Sonko stated that the area is notorious for illegal parking since most motorists pay Sh100 to parking boys and deny the county revenue.

“I have instructed my City Council Team to ensure no Vehicle is double parking, overlapping ama kupiga U Turn na watu walipe parking fee especially the notorious motorist wa pale Nation Center.

“Nawenye wamezoea kupea parking Boy 100bob denying county revenue we will clamp your vehicle and parking boy utampata cell akupee key zako (If you are among those who give parking boys Sh100 for parking we will clamp your vehicle and arrest the parking boys),” he said.

Sonko added that he is trying to put in place an efficient transport system in Nairobi but a few people are frustrating his efforts.

The governor warned all those who avoid paying for parking space that their cars will be clamped and they will have to part with Sh2500.

“All we need is free flow of vehicles in CBD. All of us, including the larger Matatu sector, are in agreement that the current chaotic situation is neither good for the public nor for those who have invested in the industry.

"The time has come for us to deliver an organized and efficient transport system to get Nairobi moving again,” he remarked.

Sonko instructed those who want to pay for parking to dial *235# and further urged them report parking boys who block spaces using motorbikes.
