Mwea Member of Parliament Kabinga Wachira on Monday caused chaos after discovering that ‘miraa’ (Khat) which had been seized was missing from a Sagana police station.

The MP wanted Mwea West OCPD John Onditi to explain how and why the drug had been offloaded from the lorry which was transporting it.

He accused the station of not following procedure in the manner in which it conducted the case since the consignment was supposed to stay in the station pending completion of the case.

“We agreed that all detained vehicles transporting miraa should be held at the police station until the case is solved. It is shocking to me that the Sagana police officers have released the miraa and left the lorry empty,” the furious MP stated.

In their defense, the police said that they would continue arresting miraa transporters caught flouting traffic rules.

The bold move by the legislator to intervene in police operations adds to the long list of moves by MP’s to confront law enforcers for flaunting procedures.
