Raila Junior and activist Boniface Mwangi on Tuesday dressed down each other after they differed over who should be elected to lead Kibra constituency.

Through a tweet, Raila Jr said Ukweli Party’s Editar Ochieng’ does not stand a chance of winning the by-election, adding that spoilt votes will be more than hers.

“I honestly feel there will be more spoilt votes than votes for her @bonifacemwangi if @SportPesa were still on I’d make that bet. Why would someone waste their time and money like this?” said Jr.

Mwangi swiftly responded by saying: “Your father (Raila) has been running for President since 1997.

“22 years later he is still running but has never been sworn as president…let Editar run for MP Kibra in peace. Bet on your dad becoming president in 2022 and let Editar Ochieng be.”

Raila Jr responded by saying he is also a registered voter and will not give Editar an easy time.

“It’s so easy to clickbait you (Mwangi)…how many votes do you believe Ukweli party will gather?

“I will not let her run in peace as I’m also a registered voter in Kibera. Why are you posing a nonstarter who will digress from the real issues?” he asked.

Mwangi, who openly stated that he is backing Editar for the seat, hit out at Raila Jr for ‘bullying’ the aspirant.

“Kura yako ni moja (you have one vote). Bullying a young woman because she dared vie in a party not owned by your father is purely wrong.

“Editar (Ukweli Party) is my choice, you don't have a choice yet because daddy hasn't picked someone for you. Become your own man,” said the activist.

The Kibra seat fell vacant following the demise of Ken Okoth and the by-election is set to take place on November 7, 2019.

Jubilee Party has cleared former Harambee Stars captain McDonald Mariga to vie while ODM is yet to settle on a candidate after postponing nominations.
