Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has hit out at Deputy President William Ruto, asking him to ‘let McDonald Mariga be.’

Through a tweet, Kuria stated that the former Inter Milan midfielder should focus on nurturing young players in the country instead of plunging himself into the ‘dirty game’ of politics.

“Let Macdonald Mariga spend time to grow our football and our talents. Siasa itakuwepo leo, kesho na mtondogoo (Politics will always be there).

“@WilliamsRuto let the young man be. He will live to join this silly, dirty game of politics another day,” wrote Kuria.

This comes just hours after Mariga was cleared to vie for the Kibra parliamentary seat on a Jubilee Party ticket.

The former Harambee Stars skipper alongside other aspirants appeared before the party’s election board on Monday and was cleared.

They were examined by a panel of six on a number of issues including party policies, financing campaigns and their vision for Kibra constituency.

According to a scorecard seen by Ureport, Mariga scored 500 marks out of a possible 600 marks, Ramadhan Hussein came in second with 371 marks while Morris Kinyanjui was third with 367 marks.

The Kibra seat fell vacant after the demise of Ken Okoth on July 26, 2019.

The by-election is set to be held on November 7.
