ODM party leader Raila Odinga is set to lead a mega rally on Sunday, August 25, 2019.

According to his Communications Director Dennis Onyango, the rally will be held at Kamukunji Grounds in Kibra Constituency and Odinga will introduce parliamentary aspirants who intend to fill the void left by late MP Ken Okoth.

A letter seen by Ureport further states that the event will kick off at noon and prospective candidates will be given a chance to articulate their agenda to voters.

"As part of the plans for Kibra Constituency by-election campaigns, ODM Party leader Hon. Raila Odinga is inviting party supporters and voters to a rally at the Kamukunji grounds in Kibra on Sunday, August 25, 2019.

"At the rally, the party leader will introduce to the constituency to all those who have applied for the ODM ticket, to replace the late Hon. Ken Okoth as a Member of Parliament," read the letter in part.

It further adds: "The event will kick off at midday. The prospective candidates will be given time to articulate their agenda for the constituency.”

At least four aspirants have declared interest in the seat, with three seeking the ODM ticket.

Among those who have showed interest to run on an ODM ticket are former MCA Pius K’Otieno, ODM National Youth Coordinator Benson Musungu and Imran Okoth, Ken's brother.

Human rights activist Editar Vitalis confirmed that she will be battling for the seat on Ukweli Party (UP).

In an interview, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna neither confirmed nor denied whether he will contest for the seat.

“ODM has not received any application from any candidate to vie on its ticket. I cannot say whether I will run or not,” said Sifuna.
