Dramatic footage captured calm holidaymakers taking selfies as a British Airways plane was roaring into land just a few feet above their heads.

Some tourists are knocked off a ledge at the start of the footage, which is a mix of different terrifying landings at Skiathos Airport, Greece.

The landing strip there is just yards from the sea and has become a draw for thrill-seeking tourists.

Although there's even a sign warning "danger please keep away from aircraft blast", many holidaymakers head to the airport nevertheless to feel a bizarre thrill.

The people who were watching the planes were pushed from the wall by the wake turbulence of the Embraer.

Skiathos' runway is also very small at 5,341-foot, which means flights leaving the island often have to take off with near-empty fuel tanks to keep the plane light enough so that it can get airborne.

Some planes have to then touch down minutes later in nearby Thessaloniki to refuel.

People have shared their disbelief online.

Writing on YouTube, one person said: "Cool to watch and cool to catch."

Another called the behaviour of the tourists "unsafe".

And one man said: "I don't know why people think this is some kind of game or something to be played with. All it takes is one tragedy...."
