Media personality Jacque Maribe visited the State House Communications Director Dennis Itumbi at the Muthaiga Police Station after his arrest by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Wednesday 3 July.

Itumbi, who works from Deputy President William Ruto’s office, was arrested inside a restaurant opposite City Hall at around 1 pm after DCI traced a letter alleging an assassination plot against the DP.

While speaking to the Standard, Itumbi, who was taken to the Muthaiga Police Station, said he did not record any statement since he had nothing to say about the matter.

“On the advice of my lawyer, I have not recorded any statement and will not do so until the police disclose why they arrested me,” said Itumbi.

The police sought the assistance of Federal Bureau Investigation (FBI) to help trace the viral ‘fake’ letter that saw the summoning of three Cabinet Secretaries from the Mt. Kenya Region.

Photos of Jacque visiting Itumbi at the police station and the DCI headquarters have since gone viral.

In the previous months, Itumbi, through his social media platforms, showed his support to Maribe during an ongoing case in court.

Most Kenyans on social media have termed Maribe’s support to Itumbi as ‘returning the favor’. The two were rumored to have been in a relationship in the past.
