Detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) on Thursday arrested four men believed to be behind a series of robberies near banks.

The four; Joseph Ngui Nzunza, Andrew Nzioki Kiilu, David Mwangi Gakuru & Peter Matata Mungeli are said to pounce on unsuspecting victims after withdrawing money from ATMs and later drugging them.

Several items including handcuffs, police appointment certificates and pocket phones were recovered from a Toyota Axio they were driving.

Police reports indicate that the suspects mostly operate within Nairobi and all those who have been victims of ATM robberies have been asked to report to the nearest DCI office.

In late 2018, the National Police Service revealed the face of the man who masterminds ATM robberies and daylight muggings in the Nairobi CBD.

Through posts seen on Social Media, the police asked members of the public to be wary of one Godfrey Sangare who was once arrested for robbery with violence but was released on bail.

Ambani had been arrested October 19 after being captured on CCTV robbing a man shortly after he had stepped out of a bank but was later released on cash bail.

Photos of two other suspects; John Kamau and Godfrey Sangare were also displayed.
