Police in Migori are investigating an incident in which the body of a three-year-old child was found in a well in their homestead.
The child had reportedly been missing since Saturday with attempts by his parents to trace him becoming futile.
Dorine Achieng, the mother of the deceased told The Standard that she last saw her son on Saturday morning when she left him at home.
The sorrowful mother painfully narrated how she believed that her son had followed other children to church as she was told by some of her friends.
Before the body was found yesterday, the mother alongside her friends and relatives had mounted a search for the child.
“I was surprised today when I was informed by one of my relatives that the body of my son had been found inside a well just next to my house,” said Achieng.
According to Migori county police commander Joseph Nthenge, the body was found after three days of search for the boy.
“Police have launched investigations to establish the cause of the death of the child to establish if he could have been killed and dumped in the well or it was an accident,” Said Nthenge.
The body has been transferred to Rose wood hospital mortuary where a postmortem will be done.
