Eric Mulinge Nethuli, a Kenyan student in India, will spend the rest of his life in jail after a court convicted him of raping a fellow Kenyan.

A court in Mahila in the Southern state of Tamil Nadu heard that the Master in Business Administration (MBA) student raped his colleague aged 22 in 2016.

Nethuli is said to have taken advantage of the lady when she invited him over for dinner.

The victim first reported the incident to Ammapettai All Women Police Station.

The accused was also fined Sh25,323 and will serve his sentence at the Puzhal Prison.

Elsewhere, Indian police on Monday stated that they will ask a court to charge a Catholic bishop with raping a nun in the southern state of Kerala.

Bishop Franco Mulakkal of Jalandhar Diocese has been accused of confining a 42-year-old nun to a convent in Kottayam, Kerala, and raping her multiple times between 2014 and 2016.

The bishop has denied the accusation.
