A section of Kenyatta University students was on Friday dispersed by police for shouting pro-Bobi Wine chants during a public lecture by Uganda President Yoweri Museveni.

The students heaped praise on the Kyadondo East MP and most of them expressed displeasure at their institution for postponing their exams to accommodate Museveni.

Earlier, activist Boniface Mwangi had asked the students to boycott the lecture saying the university should be ashamed of postponing exams to listen to him.

A video of the incident that was shared on social media elicited mixed reactions. While some praised the students for their unity, others castigated them for lack of respect to a visiting head of state.

Uduny: “Big up to KU comrades.”

Gissingah: “Those are the hooligans were breeding in the name of graduates, yet you expect a graduate from the same campus apply for a job in an institution run by @KagutaaMuseveni”

Paul Koskei: “Big Shame to the organiser of such uncalled for behaviour. What has Bobi got to do with Museveni coming to Kenya? Siasa ya Uganda acheni ibaki Uganda. Indiscipline of highest order.”

WelshKe: “This is lack of respect and very unfortunate how University students can be close-minded.”

Joyce Lay: “This is good, I urge them to use the same energy saving this country.”

Museveni’s visit to Kenya was aimed at consolidating beneficial cooperation between the two countries at bilateral and multilateral levels.

During his stay, the Uganda President visited the Port of Mombasa and thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for ensuring that goods destined for Uganda are cleared in the shortest time possible at the port.

Earlier he had lauded the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) noting that it has significantly reduced the time it takes to transport goods from Mombasa to Nairobi.
