NASA leader Raila Odinga on Thursday morning lit up social media by sharing old photos of his time in Germany.

Captioned, “Hanging out and catching a train ride in Magdeburg, Germany” the two photos showed Odinga having a good time in the German city and netizens were quick to comment.

The photos are believed to date back almost 50 years since he was a student at the Technical School, Magdeburg, between 1965 and 1970.

After attaining his Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Odinga returned to Kenya to become a lecturer at the University of Nairobi.

He left the university four years later and was employed by the Kenya Bureau of Standards where he was the deputy director in 1978.

In 1982 he was accused of plotting a coup against the then President Daniel Arap Moi and was imprisoned for six years.

He has been active in politics since the early ’90s although his four attempts at the Presidency have all ended in defeat.

However, Odinga believes he won the 2007 General Election but was rigged out.

It is safe to say he is loved and loathed in equal measure. His supporters see him as a Democrat who fights for the right of the oppressed but to others, he is a schemer who will do anything to get to the top.
