The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) on Friday morning responded to a tweet where one of its vehicles had flaunted traffic rules.

The attention of the DPP was drawn to a tweet by one Waithera Gaitho who stated that the car, registration number KCM 485Y, hit him while driving on the wrong side.

“I've been hit by these "very important" people while they were driving on the wrong side. Please help me find them,” he said.

The ODPP quickly responded and confirmed that the car is attached to their office and action would be taken.

“The matter has been brought to the attention of the DPP. The motor vehicle belongs to the @ODPP_KE and the DPP has directed that immediate action be taken by @NPSOfficial_KE against the driver involved.

“The public shall be informed of the progress of the case,” read the tweet.

Kenyans online lauded the swiftness of the DPP and thanked him for his transparency.

“Good response. Can I please petition on behalf of Kenyans that the office of the DPP gives his word and order the police to arrest & prosecute cabinet secretaries who break traffic laws and drive on the wrong side of the roads especially on Ngong & Langata roads.”

“This is the sort of transparency that wins public confidence. Well done. You restored my pride in this country kidogo.”

“And let us know who was being driven, they should in good conscience apologize and take responsibility for the act of lawlessness.”

“That was fast.”

“Good, leading from the front and setting standards inculcates good culture amongst other government/parastatals vehicle handlers.”
