Mmust topped in four items in the just concluded Kenya Universities Performing Arts and Films Association (KUPAA) regional drama festivals held from March 1st-2nd at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology.

KUPAA, an organization that actively promotes performing arts and film among students, organized the competition to enable university students to showcase their talents.

This competitively performed festival comprising of three universities that is Maseno University, Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology and the host university, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga ended with Mmust grabbing the lead in most items. Mmust topped in four things including creative cultural dance, choral verse, mime performed by Allan Mwangi, solo verse by Kelly Mukeah and solo Play by Teddy Abunde. This university located in the Isukuti land also performed well in comedy and play.

"We are so glad to have clinched a lead in most of the items. This incredible performance has come with a lot of sacrifice and dedication. The Mmust thespians have been dedicated to what they have been doing and sure enough hard work pays" Mmust Student Chairperson Meggy Donna said.

The host university Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University also performed amazingly well as they grabbed a lead in the play and spoken word by their student Justoh.

Maseno University, on the other hand, led in the comedy section. Despite having not leading in most items, the university actors held the stage to a standstill with its properly scripted, properly choreographed and compelling presentation of its choral verse entitled Daladala. This powerful presentation full of funny lines started with zeal and enthusiasm, but it lost direction in the middle of the performance due to unpreparedness by a few of the characters.

"The respective universities who participated in this festival expressed irrevocable love for performing arts and film. I wish all of them well as they proceed to National competitions". Gabriel Bombo who was among the judges said.

The respective universities which showed exceptional performance would be proceeding to Pwani University on 17th of March for National Drama Festivals.
