Kenya’s industrial gas supplier BOC Gases posted a 21 per cent fall in pretax profit to Sh232 million ($3 million) on Friday and blamed costs and sluggish demand.

No deal in sight for BOC, Carbacid shareholders

Shareholders of Carbacid Investments and BOC gases are yet to smile more than three years after their shares were suspended from trading at the Nairobi Stock Exchange (NSE). BOC’s pre-tax profits for the half-year ending on January 31, jumped 40 per cent to Sh152 million from 108 million shillings previously, attributing the improvement to a 43 per cent rise in sales. It is emerging that their complaints, which were fuelled by lost opportunities during the stock market’s peak periods (2006-2007), could stretch a bit longer than expected.
