A single mother of two risks spending six months behind bars if she fails to pay a fine of Sh50,000 after she pleaded guilty to conducting herself in an offensive manner while drunk.
Saida Mohamed Amin is said to have indecently insulted Salima Mohamed Ismael using bad language on the August 9, at an apartment in Parklands. According to court documents, Saida is said to have been drinking alcohol when she went to the complainant’s place of residence.
The court heard that when she got there, Saida caused mayhem by provoking Salima to a fight while hurling unprintable insults at her, claiming that Salima’s husband was her lover too, hence insinuating that the two were co-wives.
Saida was restrained and taken to the police station where she was questioned and charged.  She pleaded guilty to conducting herself offensively, which is contrary to the law.
She pleaded with the court for leniency saying that she was not sober when she insulted Salima, and that she is a jobless single mother of two. “I am sorry and ask for forgiveness and leniency since I owe my landlord rent for several months,” she said. The court fined her Sh50,000 or in default to serve a jail term of six months.
