Kabete sub-county police boss Francis Wahome has named areas under his jurisdiction that are prone to drug abuse.
Speaking at Muthangari police station in Nairobi on Saturday during a thanksgiving service at the station for the police service and the community, Wahome said that police have identified areas where the hard drugs are sold.
The OCPD named a bush near Wema hospital in Kawangware Stage 2 where he said hard drugs are sold.
He also disclosed that some of the hard drugs are sold in Dagoretti market popularly known as ‘ndonyo’.
“Some of the hard drugs are also sold in areas around the dam area of Spring valley but we have established that bhang is easily found and sold in almost all informal settlements in the sub-county,’’ added Wahome.
Wahome said that police were finding it hard to take suspects to court as a majority of them when arrested and taken to police stations are normally in bad states to stand trial.
The police added that together with a multi-agency team in the sub-county led by the Deputy County commissioner, they have embarked on a process of counselling the drug users and abusers.
Wahome disclosed that some of them are taken to different rehabilitation centres across the city.
