National Land Commission detectives launch investigations into alleged land grabbing at Langata Road Primary School by private developer

Nairobi, Kenya: Detectives from the National Land Commission have launched investigations into alleged land grabbing at Langata Road Primary School by a private developer.

The detectives visited the disputed site Saturday as part of their investigations and revealed commissioners from the commission will also visit the land on Monday.

The officers, who talked to journalists at the site, said a complaint had been lodged with the commission and they were in the process of putting up a caveat emptor when they learnt of the fencing on the land.

"The school had complained private developers were eyeing the land and we were in the process of erecting a poster here and gazette, a caveat emptor, when we learnt of the fencing off of the piece of land," said one of the officials at the scene.

When contacted for comments, the NLC deputy chair Abigael Mbagaya said that they will investigate as provided for under the law and especially on public utility land.

"That is a public utility and we have a mandate", she said.
