Bungoma police decry rise in defilement cases

Bungoma, Kenya: Police in Bungoma County have sounded an alarm over the  rise in defilement incidents in the area.

Bungoma South OCPD Limbitu Kirunya, disclosed that 22 defilement cases had been reported in the past one month. Speaking in his office yesterday, Kirunya said he is worried the number might be higher.

"We get such reports almost daily. The trend is worrying," said Kirunya.

He urged stakeholders to dig deeper and find the root cause of the problem. Bungoma South leads with ten reported defilement cases, Bungoma North eight and Bungoma West four cases.
