Security agencies have stepped up a manhunt for criminal gangs operating in Trans Nzoia County, following robberies in Kitale and Sibanga.

Kwanza OCPD James Odera said the police will not rest until those who robbed an Asian businessman in Kitale town last week are brought to book.

A gang of three struck at a motorcycle shop and shot and wounded the owner before escaping with an unknown amount of money.

Two more people - a boda boda rider and taxi driver - were also wounded by the criminals after they raised an alarm.

The businessman succumbed to injuries as he was being rushed for treatment at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret.

Yesterday, Odera appealed to the public to support the police in their hunt for the criminals.

He urged business people in Kitale to install CCTV systems as part of security measures.
