One person has died following a road accident at Uthiru junction along Waiyaki Way in Nairobi.
A tout working for a matatu Sacco that plies the route was on Wednesday, March 22, ran over a few meters from Uthiru junction.
The accident took place around midday.
According to an eyewitness account, the matatu conductor was allegedly alighting the vehicle when he slipped, fell, and was run over.
Speaking to The Standard, the witness said no one noticed when he fell off.
“It felt like the driver had hit a bump, then later the people at the back of the bus started screaming and asked the driver to stop. We all alighted and there he was bleeding profusely.”
A traffic police officer who was nearby attended to the scene, confirming the death of the conductor.
The passengers who were commuting from Kikuyu to the city centre were forced to seek alternative means of transport as the driver went into hiding.
