DJ Fatxo: Never jump to conclusions based on hearsay, false accusations

Lawrence Wagura aka DJ Fatxo on Wednesday asked the public not to jump to conclusions and pass judgement based on hearsay, saying investigations have shown he was not involved in the death of Jeff Mwathi.

Fatxo further conveyed his condolence message to the family of the deceased, saying he knows it has been a difficult period for many and an emotive case for the public.

"First and foremost, I want to express my deepest sympathies to Jeff's family and friends, and to anyone else who has been affected by this situation. I know that this has been a difficult time for many people, and I want to acknowledge the pain and hurt that has been caused by these accusations.

"I also want to take this opportunity to clear my name and to assure you all that I have been found not guilty after thorough investigations by the DCI detectives and the ODPP. While I am relieved to have this behind me, I know that there are still people who may be struggling with feelings of anger, frustration, and disappointment," he wrote.

Adding: "I have gone through a very difficult period both emotionally and physically, and I know firsthand how damaging and hurtful it can be to be on the receiving end of false accusations and cyberbullying. Let's all take a moment to reflect on how we can be more compassionate, understanding, and respectful towards each other."

DJ Fatxo's legal team had also requested the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) to release a statement that vindicates their client of any foul play in the death of Mwathi.

This is after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) forwarded its findings and recommendations to the ODPP.

The legal team said it was reliably informed that their client (Fatxo) had been cleared of any wrongdoing, adding that investigations showed he was not home when Mwathi met his death.

"We are happy to state that we now know that the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has indeed applied themselves to the matter and have agreed with the findings and recommendations of the Directorate of criminal investigations to wit, it is clear that there is no single shred or iota of evidence to suggest any remote criminal culpability by our client or suspicion thereof.

"The ODPP has thus recommended that the matter pursues the route of an inquest. On our part, our client is happy that the truthful position he has always espoused and maintained with regard to his innocence has come out at last," read a statement by DJ Fatxo's lawyer Duncan Okatch.

Okatch further stated that Fatxo has forgiven all those who propagated lies about him and he hopes his story will inspire those who are often subjected to social mob justice and cyberbullying.

"The fact is that it has not been easy for our client and if it were not for his special relationship with God, support from his parents, friends and fans who showed solidarity with him.

"Our client will now resume his normal life and do what he does best which is ensuring people shake their legs..." wrote his legal team.
