Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his wife Dorcas Rigathi on Monday hosted Kenyan boy band Sauti Sol in Gaborone, Botswana.

The DP stated that they held fruitful discussions around the welfare of youth and how the award-winning group can aid in nurturing talent.

Gachagua added that they also explored ways to rescue young people trapped in substance abuse and how they can be assisted to lead meaningful lives.

"This evening, @Pastor_Dorcas and I hosted members of the popular Kenya Boys band @sautisol in Gaborone, Botswana.

"They are participating in the Forbes Under 30 Africa Summit. We had an enriching conversation on empowerment of our youth and the role they, as mentors in their industry and elsewhere, can play in helping vulnerable young people nurture and sharpen their talent to fruition," he wrote.

Adding: "We also explored possibilities of working together to guide and help rescue young people lost in illicit brews and substance abuse so that they can lead meaningful lives."

Earlier, the DP also met two Kenyan footballers plying their trade in Botswana, lauding their determination to excel in sports.

"I had the pleasure of meeting two young outstanding footballers who have shattered border limits to venture into professional football first in Zambia and now in Botswana, where they have signed for Gaborone United.

"JohnMark Makwata and Duncan Otieno, formerly AFC Leopards, have established themselves in Botswana and are happily exploiting their talent....Their focus and determination is a motivation to their peers and younger ones," he wrote.
