National beach volleyball teams will be hoping to qualify for the 2022 Commonwealth Games when the Africa qualifiers serve off on Friday in Accra, Ghana.

On Wednesday, International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) released the qualifying criteria for the Games.

The top five Commonwealth countries in the FIVB rankings as at March 31 will gain direct qualification to the Games.

Kenya women's team, which is ranked third in Africa and 110th in the world, could qualify for the Games by virtue of FIVB rankings.

However, Kenya’s Sammy Mulinge says their focus remains to clinch the sole spot reserved for Africa at the Commonwealth Games.

The Africa qualifiers serves off on Friday afternoon.

The women’s team comprises of Brackcides Agala, Gaudencia Makokha, Naomi Too and Veronica Adhiambo.

Ibrahim Oduori, James Mwaniki, Nicholas Lagat and Donald Mchete form the men's team.

South Africa, Sierra Leone, Kenya, Nigeria, Gambia and Ghana are among the teams that will compete in the event.
