Kenya’s handball teams continued with their perfect run as the International Handball Federation (IHF) Challenge Trophy Zone VB tournament entered Day Three yesterday at Uganda Christian University in Mukono, Uganda.
The men’s team defeated Tanzania 33-24 in a group A match, while their women compatriots won 31-10 against Burundi.
In the men’s match, Tanzania’s Ahmed Ikram was the top scorer with 13 goals, while Kenya’s Masi Kefah scored seven. Wafula Sitati had six goals.
Kenya’s Gerald Juma said they started the match slowly, but picked up in the second half and are happy they have kept their unbeaten record in the tournament intact.
“It was a good match, but the players were somehow slow in the first half. After the break, we picked up and contained our opponents. This was a good match for us as we look forward for the semifinal match. I am glad we have finished top in our group,” he said.
Kenya now lead the table standing ahead of the hosts, Uganda.
