Darwin Mukidza struck three tries as Kenya Simbas mauled Uganda Cranes 48-10 in the first leg of the Elgon Cup yesterday at Legends Grounds in Kampala.

Kenya produced a dominant first half display as they led 29-10 at the break. Bryon Otelayot scored Uganda’s try, while Philip Worokach successfully converted for the hosts.

With the emphantic victory, Simbas are on the verge of reclaiming the Elgon Cup.

It was a sweet revenge for the Jerome Paarwaters’ side that lost the 2015 title after a 47-45 loss on aggregate to the Ugandan Cranes.

The two teams will meet again on July 30 in Nairobi in an Africa Cup fixture that will also double up as the Elgon Cup’s return leg.
