Disruption of Wetangula’s presidential launch is dirty politics

Politics characterised by chaos and malicious acts has no place in Kenya.

Just like retired President Daniel Moi used to call it, siasa chafu has no development agenda but is full of selfish motives.

The Saturday clash between ODM and FORD-Kenya supporters at Muliro Gardens in Kakamega is one good sign of dirty politics. The chaos, which disrupted the launch of Senator Moses Wetang'ula's presidential bid, led to serious injuries of two people.

This happened despite the assurance by the three CORD principals that they would support one another and that all of them were to attend the event.

It should also be remembered that the event had been postponed at the last minute when differences emerged between Mr Wetang'ula and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya.

Every Kenyan with the required qualifications has the right to express their interest in any political seat in this country and Wetang'ula is no exemption. Politics should remain a platform for selling appealing ideas to the electorate.
