Fresh clashes have erupted in the volatile area of Kosovo in Ndabibi, Naivasha leaving one man dead and scores of others seriously injured.

During the clashes between members of two communities, 15 houses were razed to the ground.

Tens of armed police were sent to the ground to restore calm after the pastoralists vowed to avenge the death of their colleague.

In March, another herder was killed after the two communities clashed over the ownership of the vast Agriculture Development Corporation (ADC) farm.

The deceased is yet to be buried after ADC obtained a court order stopping his funeral on the disputed land that is located on the border of Nakuru and Narok County.

During the Friday morning attack, the two communities went for each other leading to the death of the middle aged herder.

The pastoralists blocked police from collecting the badly mutilated body from the scene demanding that they first get back over 600 sheep and goats driven away by their rivals.

According to a witness James Roka, tension had been rising in the area for the last two weeks over the ownership of the land and the unresolved murder of their kin.

"At around 2am clashes erupted leaving one man dead, over ten houses burnt and hundreds of sheep missing," he said.

Speaking on phone, Naivasha sub-county commissioner Isaac Masinde confirmed the death adding that security officers had been dispatched to the area.

"One man has been killed following the clashes but we have intensified security and called elders from the warring communities so that we can resolve this," he said, noting that there was a case pending in court over the land.
