A letter to Wanjiku on a better Kenya

It has struck me how my lovely Kenya is heading South and immediately this came to my mind, “Longing for…”

I am longing for the day when one will be employed on what he knows and not on whom he knows or not on what the pocket holds.

I am longing for that moment when one will be judged by his character and not on his tribal grounds.

I am longing for the day when the complaints of Wanjiku will be addressed in a quick manner for instance in such companies and organisations like Kenya Wildlife, Kenya Power, the police and other government agencies.

I am longing for that moment when the (Mbutas) “big fish” will be fried in our jails alongside the (Omenas) “small fish.”

I am longing for the day when Wanjiku will realize that we only have TWO tribes that is the haves and the have nots.

I am longing for the time when we will stop pretending to be one yet we are deeply divided into tribal lines and deep inside our hearts we know we are not.

I am longing for a transparent, truly unified nation of Kenya.

I am still optimistic that the “longing for…” will come to pass, even when I will be resting in my grave!
