Surprising reason why Kisumu MCAs are demanding hefty send-off perks

MCAs are now demanding attractive send-off perks for those who will not be re-elected.

Through the House powers and Privileges Committee, Kisumu County Assembly plans to come up with a bill seeking to award members hefty send-off packages. Considering claims of poor performance as county administrators, it is certain most of them will not be re-elected.

It is disheartening as it is dumbfounding that the proposal has been given a clean bill of health by close to all members. Kisumu County speaker Anne Adul (pictured) has advised MCAs to hasten the process.

From extravagant and unwarranted trips to Israel to visit potato farms to visiting the tomb of Jesus Christ, the MCAs have never lacked a lame excuse to promptly waste public funds.

Meanwhile, taps still run dry, county roads are as bad as they can be, hospitals lack even the most basic of drugs and pupils have to trek several kilometres in search of education.

Against the values of integrity and accountability, the MCAs have always held county executive team at ransom whenever their selfish demands were not met but here now they are bickering about how much they need to be rewarded for their service. They should shelve their selfish plans since they will not benefit the electorate.
