An Eritrean businessman could spend six months in jail or pay a hefty fine for allegedly beating and injuring a woman with a metallic kettle.

The accused, Ghbregwet Ghbregwet Tseche, allegedly committed the offence on February 23 in Pangani.

The accused reportedly attacked his neighbour, identified as Negeso Abara, and injured her.

Court records indicate that Ghbregwet, who had hanged his clothes on the cloth line got infuriated after he saw the complainant touching his clothes as she picked hers.

Irritated, the accused allegedly picked the metallic kettle and hit Abara on the head.

Abara was left bleeding, and had to be rushed to hospital.

The accused was arrested hours later but has since denied charges in court.

He was set free on Sh20,000 bail. The matter will be heard on July 9.
