Rugby aspirant loses despite using juju

An aspirant in the just-concluded Kenya Rugby Union elections was so desperate to win that he resorted to black magic.

The veteran rugby politician, who traversed the nation with goodies during the campaigns, allegedly sought the services of a witchdoctor after he lost confidence in the delegates two days to the polls.

According to one of his close confidants, the man, in the company of his campaign manager, visited a coastal juju man and a renowned witchdoctor in Nyanza.

The visit to ‘Babu’ was ostensibly to help predict his fortunes, while the trip to South Nyanza was meant to create a charm that would influence votes to his favour. Off Side has also learnt that on the day of the elections, the candidate remained upbeat until results were announced. He lost miserably!

Sources at the rugby grounds along Ngong Road have it that the visibly disappointed man took a matatu home. It was his departure that got many wondering why a man who had put up an extravagant and elaborate campaign was reduced to the level of using a matatu. Did the campaigns drain all his money?

“Not really, it was ‘Babu’ who instructed him to use matatus on the voting day,” said a source close to the candidate, adding that the man had enjoyed PSV rides all day on the voting date.
