Impala have extended their stay at the top of the Kenya Cup league.

Hosts Impala defeated Kenyatta University's Blak Blad 48-6 in a one-sided round of 16 match.

The Saracens scored eight tries, half of this tally through Kenya U19 captain Tyson Okoth. Kevin Ochami, Bill Omondi, Sam Onsomu and George Okowa each scored once. Okowa converted four times, while Levi Amunga scored Blak Blad's points through a penalty and a drop goal.

Defending champions Kenya Commercial Bank returned to winning ways, beating Homeboyz 25-14 in the second match of the day.

It was sweet revenge for the bankers, who lost to the Deejays in their first leg encounter. Former Kenya U19 international Philip Ikambili, who was recently named in the 42-man provisional Kenya Simba's squad, got the Deejays off the mark with a try converted by Kelvin Masai.

However, KCB responded immediately through last season's top try scorer, Kenya international prop forward Curtis Lilako. Darwin Mukidza successfully converted.

Mukidza then scored and converted his own try as KCB led 14-7 at halftime. Kenny Andola's drop goal at the restart extended the scores to 17-7, before Collins Wanjala put the bankers in a comfortable 22-7 lead.

Mukidza then put the game beyond  Homeboyz' reach, as his penalty took KCB 25-7 up. Homeboyz then scored a converted try off an Alvin Otieno intercept, but then it was too late a comeback, as the defeat jeopardizes their playoff chances.

In another match, Mwamba kept their playoff dream alive with a 33-7 win over Mean Machine at the RFUEA Grounds. 'Kulabu' laboured early on and were lucky not to concede from Eric Muthama's attempted drop goal. Sensing danger, Mwamba started piling pressure, which eventually saw them go ahead through a seventh minute penalty try, which was converted by Lavin Asego.

Edwin Machanje scored Mwamba's second try and Asego converted for a 14-0 score. Onyino Jervis pulled one try back for Mean Machine and Muthama converted for a 14-7 halftime score. Mwamba scored their other tries through Brad Owako, Jeremy Griffins Atenya and Chris Asego.

In other matches, Kenya Harlequin defeated Western Bulls 57-16 at the RFUEA Grounds, as Strathmore Leos won 65-0 against Thika RFC. Kabras Sugar defeat
