Highgrade: Matatu with projector and VIP seats upgrades Dandora

When you mention Dandora, what will probably come to mind is garbage, rowdy youths, stinking omena by the roadside, kids playing in dirty water, young men chewing miraa, crime and other negative attributes.

Considered the largest dumping and scavenging grounds, Dandora, is redeeming its image with the introduction of a sexy nganya.

Going by the name Highgrade, the mathree is the first-of-its-kind on this route.

I decided to give it a try and my, oh, my, this is definitively the real deal. I enjoyed the ride and just like the name, it is high grade!

Unlike other mathrees that charge extra for the VIP seats, here, it is first come first served and the charges remain the same for all passengers.

The interior is eye-catching and unique.

The mathree has projectors at the far back that are sometimes adjusted to display videos on the floor or windows at night.

Speaking to Ma3 Culture, one of the crew said; “Though the use of projectors is a bit cheaper, carrying excess passengers means the projectors can’t be used.”

He added that, “Currently, we are leading, judging by how commuters scramble to board the matatu at all stops.”
