Man kills brother-in-law in marital dispute

A boy was killed by his brother-in-law for allegedly colluding with his mother to hide his sister.

The 14-year-old boy was stabbed in the stomach with a knife by his brother-in-law and died at Homa Bay County Hospital while undergoing treatment. His mother, Esther Omondi, who was also stabbed during the attack at Rodi Kopany township in Homa Bay last Friday, is in critical condition and undergoing treatment in the same hospital. Witnesses said the suspect, who lives at Sero village, reportedly quarreled with his wife on Thursday, after which he beat her, prompting her to run away.

The suspect followed his wife and found her in his mother-in-law's house after which he attacked the boy and his mother. "He attacked the two with a knife because he thought they had colluded to hide his wife,," said a witness.

Homa Bay County Police Commander John Omusanga said the suspect escaped and they were searching for him. "We are following important leads to ensure the suspect is apprehended so that he can be charged in court," he said.
