Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi dares Raila Odinga to kick him out of ODM

Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi has dared ODM to expel him following his move to lead a delegation from the area to Deputy President William Ruto's rural home.

On Thursday, Maangi led 3,000 delegates and seven MPs from Kisii County to Ruto's Eldoret home in what the leaders termed a mission to discuss development issues.

Addressing the media in Kisii on Friday evening, Maangi said the ODM Kisii branch officials should stop intimidating leaders who choose to focus on progressive politics.

"People of Kisii County have decided to do politics of development and all leaders should respect that," said Maangi.

The party's Kisii branch Coordinating Committee had called for a meeting on Thursday led by the Chairman Chris Obure who is also the current Kisii County Senator and distanced themselves from the Eldoret delegation.

It appears the Maangi-led delegation to Ruto's home has caused jitters in the Orange party even forcing the party leader Raila Oding'a to make an impromptu visit to the region early on Friday morning.

Raila's visit caught a number of local ODM leaders off guard.

Kisii leaders led by Governor James Ongwae welcomed the opposition leader on his arrival. Later, they held a brief meeting at Kisii Sports Club before they headed to Nyabururu Parish grounds where the burial of the late Joseph Obare, Principal Nyabigena Secondary was taking place.

As they joined other mourners, Maangi who was also present had already addressed the gathering and was leaving the venue.
