Reports: Unhappy Edinson Cavani will leave at the end of the season- destination revealed

Edinson Cavani is unhappy at Manchester United and will leave at the end of the season.

That's according to his father Luis Cavani, who says his son is keen to return to South America and has already been in touch with Boca Juniors over a summer switch.

Luis told TyC Sports: "My son does not feel comfortable in England and wants to be close to the family again.

"Edinson is going to end up playing in South America. I want Edinson to play in a team that fights for something important.

"Edinson had many conversations with [Boca vice-president Juan Roman] Riquelme and he would like to play for Boca. He was always seduced by the idea of playing in Boca.

"If he returns to South America he is leaning towards Boca."

Luis went as far as to say that Cavani, who is out of contract at Manchester United this summer, will be leaving Old Trafford when the season comes to a close.

He added: "By the middle of the year he will return to South America. My son's idea is not to continue there, he wants to return."

The news will come as a blow to Manchester United, who have benefitted immensely from having the Uruguayan up top this season.

Paul Pogba summed it up back in January, saying the other strikers at Old Trafford aren't at the same level as the former Paris Saint-Germain forward.

"Everybody knows that Edi is a top-class striker and there's few strikers like this in the world, and we had the chance to have one," said Pogba.

"We know the hardest goals are those goals. We have talented players – Anthony Martial, Rashy [Marcus Rashford] in front, even Mason [Greenwood], that they can shoot from outside and stuff – but they don’t have this, the experience of Edi, and they don’t have the same quality of Edi as well.

"So I think we complete each other with the players we have in front and Edi can obviously show his class like he did today [in the win over Fulham].

"Those goals that we needed, at the right time, he’s always there at the right time and the right moment to help the team to win."
