Man United and Arsenal on alert as Barcelona 'consider Antoine Griezmann sale'

Arsenal and Manchester United are two of the clubs who have been alerted to Barcelona's willingness to offload Antoine Griezmann.

The Catalans paid over £100m to sign the Frenchman from Atletico Madrid last summer.

But the feeling within the squad was that they didn't need a player like Griezmann at the Nou Camp.

And since he has failed to hit the levels expected the Spanish giants are prepared to consider his departure, reports Sport.

The Gunners, who have previously been linked with Griezmann, could face competition from Chelsea, Manchester United and PSG.

Barcelona are keen to recoup the majority of the money they parted with in the summer which would price the 29-year-old at around £100m.

Should his price tag put off potential suitors then the Catalans are prepared to sanction a loan, similar to the one they did for Philippe Coutinho.

The Brazilian headed to Bayern Munich in the summer for a temporary period, but the deal saw his salary covered.

Barcelona are aware of the need to make cut backs as they prepare to feel the financial repercussions of the coronavirus.

But at the same time they know they need to improve their squad for next season with Quique Setien now at the helm.

The former Real Betis boss took over from Ernesto Valverde earlier this season but has endured an indifferent start.

He has stressed however that should Griezmann remain at the club beyond the summer he will still have a role for him.

But by that time Barcelona could've sealed a return for Brazilian star Neymar.

The player left for PSG almost three years ago but is desperate to manufacture a move back to the Nou Camp leaving the Catalans will an overload of attacking players.
