KPA tackle Lakeside as Dynamites face Equity Hawks test

University of Nairobi (UoN) Dynamites face an acid test when they clash with reigning Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) women’s Premier League champions Equity Bank Hawks at Nyayo Gymnasium today.

The students will have to be at their best to overcome wounded Hawks, who hope to bounce back from last weekend’s 50-52 loss to 2017 winners Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) away in Mombasa. Dynamites, who made their top tier debut this season, beat former champions Eagle Wings 56-55 last weekend.

After their unbeaten run came to a halt at Makande Hall, Hawks are determined to chalk up double victory at Nyayo. Equity coach David Maina said he longs to win this weekend’s matches while targeting the top spot at the end of the first leg.

“It is unfortunate that we had to lose narrowly away in Mombasa. It has not dampened our spirits because we are still within our goals of finishing at the top of the standings at the end of the first leg. We want to retain our title and we are all determined to make it happen,” Maina said.

Equity will lock horns with league leaders and unbeaten Strathmore Swords tomorrow. Swords will be looking to overpower Equity and keep their winning streak. Eagle Wings, who lost two times last weekend, take on Flames of United States International University of Africa (USIU-A) today. Zetech University Sparks return to action today against African Nazarene University (ANU).
