It was a battle of titans at the monthly National Gun Owners Association shooting competition which took place at the NGAO- Kenya shooting range in Kirigiti over weekend.

Seasoned shooters pulled off their best triggers to outdo each other.

To the bemusement of many, it emerged that the perennial winner Robert Nyamongo with a personal best of 14.2 seconds under the Standard qualifier was no easy tussle.

It was a good day for NGAO Kenya Chair Anthony Wahome who shot the best time in the 5x5 classifier, changing his classification from Expert to Master status. He now becomes the third Master shooter in the country after Robert Nyamongo and Mohammed Omar.

A total of three participants were DQued for flouting various rules.

Gikonyo Mwangi “NGAO Kenya has witnessed as an influx of newcomers in the recent times. We started this facility to help shooters gain proficiency in handling firearms. Today we have registered roughly ten new members who need training”

Gun ownership in Kenya is going through a transformative period. Unlike in previous times, all civilian firearm holders are now required to get biometric cards fixed with a microchip that will have all of an individual's details in it.

This registration according to the Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i should be complete by March 18.
