Shufti set to topple Zariba Cup Open Handicap contenders

By THE SQUIRREL

On Sarturday, the Broadcasting Manager of Racing International, his Technical counterpart and Broadcasting Executive for Gold Circle, are with us in living colour.

They will assess the video quality production to help define a way forward, so that we can compete favourably with other racetracks appearing on Tellytrack in South Africa.

For their entertainment, eight captivating events are in store, including the Nakuru Club Cup which favours Nutcracker from Bravery.

The Nutcracker previously had his own foibles against starting, but Richard Kibet wised-up to these antics as the season began, and they went from start to finish over a mile in 1:41:00.

Bravery (Paul Kiarie), duplicated that win in another race, two seconds slower. Bravery carries 4kgs more than The Nutcracker, tipping scales in the latter’s court.

Russian Flame (Lesley Sercombe), has her moments of brilliance, Shakara Man (Michael Kariuki), never fails to remain polished, but, King’s Point (James Muhindi), seems to prefer sprinting.

Another feature worth commenting on is the Open Handicap Zariba Cup.  Patsy Sercombe is endorsing Labour of Love, Mpowered Mpire and Blizzard. Joe Karari ships 2,060 specialist, Usurper, while Gilly Fraser brings her Shufti from Naivasha.

Distance is 2,400m, so Shufti earns major league points on that scale. She demolished a fine field in the Jockey Club Stakes by roughly 13 lengths. Blizzard can stay, no doubt, but the smart money will be for Shufti.

As you all monitor proceedings, please direct your prayers towards the Mhajan family, currently undergoing unusual, traumatic, trials and tribulations.
